Have you noticed a change on your mobile phone and the APP you use to manage your Facebook Business Page?
This is a new change Facebook is rolling out and not everyone has it – per their norm – but if you do, you may need a couple tips on using it. It also appears to be rolling out on mobile devices much faster than on desktop.
The change is moving from Facebook’s Pages Manager APP to Business Suite, and this will also be on desktop too under the Business Manager if you use that for managing your pages.
It appears they are moving to make things more streamlined for small business in particular, but their notices also indicate this is not meant for replacing Ads Manager so there is a little confusion on it right now. I will keep looking in to what this means.
The goal of Business Suite is:
To allow businesses save time and stay up to date by managing their pages or profiles across our apps. It allows them to post to Facebook and Instagram at the same time, and manage and receive messages, notifications and alerts in one place. They can also easily see what’s working and learn what’s resonating with customers with Facebook and Instagram insights.
Yes, you will be able to manage your Facebook Pages and Instagram all in one place. Which is kind of a plus, and it will help save you time. But of course, now we need to figure out how to use it first!
Their ultimate goal is to create a main interface for businesses of all sizes who use Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp. An all in one solution! And apparently small businesses are getting it first.
Let me share the basics I have figured out this far.
Accessing Business Suite on Mobile
If you had the Pages APP on your phone, you will note the APP image has changed and is now the new Business Suite image (below).
Once you click on it, you will need to go through the process of converting to it and using the Business Suite. There is no real option to NOT do this.
If you aren’t using the Pages Manager App on your mobile device, you should be! It offers some extras you cannot do on the regular Facebook APP. To get the new APP, visit the App Store on your device to download the Facebook Business Suite App.
Accessing Business Suite on Desktop
To access Business Suite on desktop, you want to check if you have it there as not everyone does. I have it on mobile but not desktop yet.
Log into the Facebook account associated with your business. Then, if you are one of the “lucky” ones, you’ll see a message at the top of your page. Click that and you’ll automatically be redirected to Business Suite on business.facebook.com on desktop. You can also just visit www.business.facebook.com to see if the message shows up there.
From my exploring I feel they have a few pros to this new system, that of course will mean we all need to figure it out and learn to use the new layout – same as we do every time they just up and change things!
Here are some of the top features you can do in this new Facebook Business Suite:
- Get an overview of both your Facebook Page and your Instagram account.
- You can manage other pages you admin as well as own.
- Notifications are in here and seemingly in a more organized fashion for seeing them and replying or acting on them.
- Inbox Messages are here as well, with the comments too from both the Page and Instagram. You can also create automated responses to use here.
- Create Content right here – to post live or schedule. You can still tag people here and hashtag previews will come up as well. I am not sure the Instagram tagging works yet – still testing this out.
- Check your insights and view the stats of your marketing activities and content posted online.
- If you have a “Shop” setup on your page with products, you can send your shop items / products as attachments in messages when people ask about them or request info.
I encourage you to check it out on your phone – and desktop to see if you have it – and take some time to explore and see how to use it for your page/ business.
And before you do anything with your Page and the new App, this is your friendly reminder that every page owner needs to have a backup ADMIN on their page. Make sure you have someone else connected to your page so you have a backup should something happen to your own Facebook account. Then the other Admin still has access and can manage the page if needed.
