Turn off the Auto Play on Facebook Videos.
When I was talking with Chad from Telus (see my previous blog) I had my little lesson on data use and Cell Phones and Social Media. He taught me in a sensible way that the auto play videos on Facebook are one of the biggest data hogs on cell phones.
I knew this and had my settings turned off, but many don’t and you may not realize how much of your data plan the videos on Facebook will use – even if you do NOT click them to play… Just scrolling through your news feed makes them all auto play.
It can be a big drain on your data plan limits, so you want them turned off.
The steps to do this are very easy, no matter if you are doing this on your phone, tablet or desktop. In all cases the steps are essentially the same.
- Go to your Facebook Profile.
- Click Settings
- Go to Videos
- Click OFF on the auto play area.
- Then you are set.
This video below shows you the steps to take and also how the auto play works. Follow along to make the change on your Facebook Account so you can keep your data usage down.
Be sure to take 2 minutes and change your settings. Your wallet may be thanking you if you use Facebook on your phone a lot!
If you run into an issue, feel free to post your question on my Facebook Business page and I will try to help you out!
