The 5-Step Elevator Pitch Formula to Instantly Attract More Clients – Ep 109

A poorly worded elevator pitch could be the reason you’re not booking more clients.

If you feel like some days you are repelling clients versus attracting them, that could actually be happening. I find the culprit is often that good ol’ Elevator Pitch, you know… that short Business Intro you get to do in front of groups and audiences. And it truly can be the reason, especially if it contains the biggest mistake people make when doing their short 30-second intro.

Rambling. Saying too many words that do not offer the clarity needed when you have under one minute to get your message across.  Clarity is so critical with marketing and even more so when we are talking about a 30-second elevator pitch!

It’s time to stop rambling with your elevator pitch and start attracting and booking more clients.

This week’s episode of the Marketing Your Private Practice with Kathy C podcast offers some insight into a huge mistake when it comes to messaging and your elevator pitch.

Here are 3 lessons we cover in this episode on elevator pitches:

  • Why you must focus on the present, not the past
  • Create clarity and lose the rambling words in your marketing messages
  • Kathy’s 5-step formula for an effective elevator pitch that will attract, not repel clients

By focusing on these key lessons and using the formula, you’ll transform your elevator pitch from blah to brilliant and will see the changes instantly in the faces of those who hear your message.  You will go from raised eyebrows trying to understand what you do and sometimes even who you are (it happens!) to reaching more people and helping them change their lives.

All because people finally understand what you offer your clients – not only your services but how you transform their lives for the better!

Listen in to hear the 5-Step Elevator Pitch Formula that will help you instantly attract more clients with your elevator pitch. An effective elevator pitch is one that moves people to action. When people hear it, they know exactly who you are, who you help, what problem they have that you have a solution for and how your service can change their lives. And they should also know how to contact you too!

5 Step Formula for an Effective Elevator Pitch

5 Step Formula for an Effective Elevator Pitch

  1. Introduce yourself and your Business: Include these to establish your identity and sometimes your credibility. Your name and business name are key here. Never forget them!  Now if anybody’s ever heard me do mine sometimes you can very slickly do this in a really neat way that also shares my website. I will always say something to the effect of I’m Kathy Colaiacovo, founder of pepperitmarketing.com or owner of pepperitmarketing.com  But I want to point out that is not my legal business name – that is Pepper It Services, Inc. I don’t worry about telling anyone the legal name ever – I use the Intro to also give them my website. So if you can do something like this try it!
  2. Identify your Ideal Client + their biggest problem: Here’s where you want to clearly state who you help and what problem you help them with. This should be specific and focused. Identify the typical problem your target audience faces in words and describe it so people can identify or at least visualize it. Specificity helps a lot here.
  3. Offer a Solution Briefly: Try to hint at how your business solves this problem with a very high-level description. Do not get into any details here – this is where the Rambling always happens! It could be as simple as working with me 1-1 or in my XXX program or saying something like, as we work together 1-1 developing a custom nutrition plan ….
  4. Share their Transformation: Describe the results clients experience when they work with you. Use specific examples if you can – this makes it more real to others and helps them envision it – for themselves or others.
  5. 5. Finish with a Call to Action (CTA) to Connect: Quickly, let people know how they can connect with you or find you. Always leave the door open that you would love to talk or if they know someone that you do free consults etc.

PRO TIP — ONLY USE 1 CTA and way to Connect

Your website is ideal, especially if you have it optimized so people can connect with you from the contact page which is easy to find there. Check out episode 102 if you want some tips on how to optimize that contact page for more consults.  Adding multiple ways to connect is as confusing as History and Intro Rambling. Sharing multiple CTAs is confusing and people will not take in one let alone multiple ways to reach out.

Creating and using an effective Elevator Pitch is all about focusing on the present and highlighting the value of your business and services to potential clients and referral sources. Using these 5 steps in this formula will help ensure you have the best and most effective Elevator Pitch possible so that you can reach more people and book more clients.
