Why you need to Add a Call to Action in your Blogs!

Adding a Call to Action to your Blogs

calls to action in blogsSo, I am going to assume since you read my newsletters, that you are blogging. I know I harp on this a lot, but blogging really does help your business. Not only does it boost visibility online, but the search engines love blogs.

These are new pages with new content on your website; search engines are always looking to index new content. Blogs are key to this.

You would have a hard time having a website with hundreds of pages, but start blogging twice a week and all of a sudden you have more than 100 new pages on your website in a year. Google will LOVE you!

So, now that you do blog on a regular basis, let me ask you this… Are you asking for something in every blog? You know the old saying “Ask for the Business”, it is a sales tactic. But in blogs, I refer to this as a call to action. Every blog you write needs one. You will be directing people to read the blogs (because you promote them on social media right? (wink, wink).

A Call to Action (CTA) can be one of several things:

  • A call to post a comment
  • To share the article on social media
  • To email you and book a session
  • To connect and like your Facebook page and share their ideas
  • To download one of your free reports – your lead magnet

As much as you can, you want to have a call to action so that the reader of your blogs go one step further with you. Even those small comments (to which you will reply) are good. That little connection helps them feel more trusting with you.

If you check my blogs out on my website, you will see almost everyone has a call to action, most are to my free reports (my lead magnets) which are how I build my email list of subscribers. But sometimes depending on the content it is something different.

Plan your CTAs – I do plan these out. I have a list of the various ones I can use and when I write my articles, I decide which CTA fits best and add that into the blog or article. (This saves a lot of time as well as the list also has the words/text or html code needed to create that CTA on each blog. After all, time is money, do what you can to save both!)

Your action step today?

Make a list of all possible CTAs you have and then begin to add them to your blog articles. Even go back and add to past ones.

Remember to Ask for the Business or in this case, suggest an action step to take. Always be helpful in how you do it and you will see results!
