You could be missing important Messages that might have an Opportunity in them.
Facebook allows non-friends to message you, but they can be hard to find. In fact, they are often missed, I should know, I found out recently I have missed several myself.
The reason they are hard to find, is because there is a place in Facebook where some messages can be found and you may not realize where they are. They are called filtered requests. I want to share with you how to find them, because you never know when an important message can get posted in here.
The first thing you should know about sending a private message to someone on Facebook, with whom you are not friends, is that if there is another way – use that method first. It is very easy for people to miss these messages on Facebook. If you have something important to say, this is not the ideal way to send it.
Soooo… back to the messages. As you may or may not know, Facebook messages are sent via an inbox system within Facebook and how they get to you is dependent upon Facebook.
Messages from friends will go to your inbox, messages from non-friends will go in a section called “Message Requests”. Then there are messages Facebook thinks are spam, these will be filtered out of your message requests and into a spot called message filters. I suggest at least once a week you peek in this area to be sure that nothing has been filtered in here.
You can find these Facebook Messages by following these steps.
1.Go to Messages.
2. Click on Message requests.
If you have any requests (a message from someone NOT a friend on Facebook) they will show here the same as they do in the regular message area.
3. To see if you have any filtered messages you need to click the words “See Filtered Requests” that shows at the very top of any messages you do have.
Now, I will be honest… I do give kudos to Facebook for being fairly effective with the filtered requests. For the most part what I have received in mine is actually spam. There were two in there that were what i would not refer to as spam, that is why checking these messages is so important to see what is there.
I encourage you to make this a regular weekly task to see what you find in there. It only takes a few seconds and who know what opportunities you could run into.
